and other risk factors that we can control (controllable).
Controllable Risks
Physical Activity

Women who exercise regularly have a lower risk of breast cancer than women who are not active. Move at least 30 minutes each day.
Diet rich in trans-fatty acids (TFA)
Studies have shown that excessive consumption of trans fatty acids (especially trans fatty acids of industrial origin) increases the risk of breast cancer.
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol increases the risk of breast cancer.
Weight
Obesity increases the risk of breast cancer.
Smoking
Smoking increases the risk especially for people who started smoking as a teenager.

Uncontrollable Risks
Being female

Being a woman is the most important risk factor for breast cancer.
Age
The older a woman is, the more likely she is to develop breast cancer.
Family History
Family history of certain types of cancer may increase the risk of breast cancer.
Menopause
Menopause at an older age increases the risk of breast cancer.
Dense Breast Tissue
Dense breasts can increase cancer risk. Not only does dense breast tissue make detection more difficult, studies show that it might also predispose you to developing breast cancer.
